No veteran should experience homelessness.
SoldiersVillage began as a 14 year old’s idea. Co-founder, Madelyn Vela, couldn’t understand how people that are willing to sacrifice their life for our country could end up begging on the street.
SoldiersVillage aims to end homelessness among US Veterans in the North Texas area. We see housing instability as a concern that stretches every corner of short-term to long-term dominion.
SoldiersVillage provides immediate, low barrier access to safe, support housing in our renovated farmhouse. Our residents have access to shelter, food, clothing and hygiene products as well as have the opportunity to engage in house programs related to developing skills in areas such as financial management, employment readiness and emotional health. Additionally, residents receive clinical navigation services to begin, the often lifelong process, of connecting to medical and behavioral health care.
It is our deepest hope that residents develop a positive self-image as they progress through our program and graduate with the ability to live self sufficient lives.
SoldiersVillage is currently providing services in our three bedroom renovated farm house located on 10 acres just outside of Bonham, TX. Our long term vision is to create a tiny home village on this site anchored by a community garden and park setting. The current home will then act as a community center for peer support groups and other services.
